One-Skillet Honey Garlic Kielbasa: Easy 20-Minute Dinner

  • Author: abigail_patterson
  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

A quick and delicious weeknight meal featuring smoky kielbasa glazed in a sweet and savory honey garlic sauce, cooked entirely in one skillet for easy cleanup.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound kielbasa (Polish Sausage), sliced into half-moons
  • 1 medium yellow onion, diced
  • 45 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 23 stalks green onions, sliced
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 cup vegetables (optional), such as broccoli florets or bell pepper strips

Instructions

  1. Slice the kielbasa into half-moon shapes, dice the onion, and mince the garlic. Cut optional vegetables into bite-sized pieces.
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add kielbasa in a single layer and sear for 2-3 minutes until browned. Flip and cook for another 2 minutes. Remove sausage and set aside.
  3. Reduce heat to medium. Add diced onion to the pan and cook for 3-4 minutes until translucent. Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Stir in honey, soy sauce, and vinegar. Whisk to combine and scrape up browned bits from the bottom. Simmer for 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  5. Add optional vegetables to the pan and toss in the sauce. Cook for 2-3 minutes until tender-crisp. Add a splash of water if the sauce is too thick.
  6. Return the cooked kielbasa to the pan. Toss to coat in the sauce. Add butter and red pepper flakes (if using). Stir until butter melts and sauce is emulsified.
  7. Remove from heat. Sprinkle with sliced green onions and serve immediately.

Notes

Ensure the sausage is seared for flavor. Do not burn the garlic by adding it too early. Adjust sweetness or saltiness to taste. For a vegetarian option, swap kielbasa for plant-based sausages or mushrooms. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
