Crispy Bang Bang Salmon

  • Author: abigail_patterson

Description

A quick and easy weeknight dinner featuring salmon fillets coated in a crispy panko crust and drizzled with a sweet, spicy, and creamy bang bang sauce. This dish is perfect for busy families and offers a healthy alternative to takeout.

Ingredients

  • Salmon fillets (about 6 ounces each)
  • Panko breadcrumbs
  • All-purpose flour (or gluten-free flour)
  • Large eggs (whisked with water)
  • Mayonnaise
  • Hot sauce (e.g., Frank’s RedHot)
  • Honey
  • Soy sauce (low-sodium recommended)
  • Lemon juice (fresh-squeezed)
  • Garlic powder
  • Olive oil or avocado oil
  • Salt and pepper

Instructions

  1. Pat salmon fillets dry with paper towels and season both sides with salt and pepper.
  2. Set up a dredging station with three shallow bowls: one with flour, one with whisked eggs and water, and one with panko breadcrumbs.
  3. Dredge each fillet in flour, shaking off excess, then dip into the egg mixture, and finally press firmly into the panko breadcrumbs to coat all sides.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, hot sauce, honey, soy sauce, lemon juice, and garlic powder to make the sauce. Taste and adjust seasoning.
  5. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until it shimmers.
  6. Carefully place breaded fillets in the skillet, ensuring they are not overcrowded. Cook in batches if necessary.
  7. Fry for 3-4 minutes per side until the crust is golden brown and the fish flakes easily with a fork.
  8. Transfer cooked salmon to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
  9. Drizzle generously with the bang bang sauce and serve immediately.

Notes

Ensure salmon is completely dry before breading to prevent sogginess. Do not overcrowd the pan to maintain crispiness. For extra crunch, finish under the broiler for 1-2 minutes. Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days and reheated in an air fryer or oven to restore crispiness.
