Description

A quick and easy weeknight dinner that combines savory ground beef with a crispy, garlicky cheddar bay biscuit crust. This one-pan comfort food is perfect for busy families and ready in under 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef (80/20 lean-to-fat ratio)
  • 1 medium yellow onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 box Cheddar Bay biscuit mix (approx. 8 biscuits)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon dried parsley
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef, breaking it up with a spoon. Cook for 6-8 minutes until no pink remains.
  3. Add the diced onion and cook for 2-3 minutes until soft. Stir in garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant. Remove from heat and drain excess grease if necessary.
  4. Spread the beef mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  5. Cut the biscuits in half or quarters and arrange them over the beef layer. Sprinkle cheddar and mozzarella cheese evenly over the biscuits.
  6. In a small bowl, whisk together melted butter, dried parsley, garlic powder, and Parmesan cheese. Pour over the cheese and biscuits, spreading into gaps.
  7. Bake for 15-20 minutes until biscuits are golden brown and cheese is bubbly.
  8. Let rest for 5 minutes before slicing into 6-8 portions and serving warm.

Notes

Ensure beef is fully drained to prevent a soggy bottom. Let the dish rest for 5 minutes before cutting to allow cheese to set. For extra crunch, broil for the last 1-2 minutes. Can be made ahead and refrigerated for up to 24 hours before baking.
